Countries and organizations are facing with a Big Bang in Information Management
By Sustainable IT Architecure - October 2010 - Creative Commons
Information is the fuel of modern economy
Whatever your country, supporting economic growth requires a high level of Information Governance as it is becoming the fuel of modern business models:
                                                      • Many sources of databases inside and outside an organization or a country with required permissions and security processes,
                                                      • More real-time information management and more pervasive information based on the Internet of Objects (RFID), the Global Positioning System (GPS), and social networking (Facebook, Twitter), etc.
When governing information with a suitable Information System architecture, many business opportunities are within grasp. Conversely, when a country and its organizations are weak in managing information, keeping the control of the digital economy growth becomes a nightmare:
                                                      • Low-level of risks control as information traceability (data lineage) is not really enforced and security concerns arise: where is the right data? Who is authorized to read, update a data? How to correlate data with each other in a secure and responsive way? Who is empowered to access and derive some benefit from a piece of information?
                                                      • Misalignment with international business regulations and standards which deeply hinder competitiveness of a country and its organizations in many domains: health sector (hospitals, clinics, patient folder, etc.), financial and accounting sectors (FpmlL, IAS, Basle, Solvency, archiving regulations, etc.), manufacturing and retail (products and foods traceability), real-estate (real-time stock market), education sector, green economy and its business regulations, etc.
